Water Restoration in Your Home

9/28/2022 (Permalink)

Any time you experience water damage in your home it can be distressing. Upon finding the water damage, try to locate the source of the water and get it stopped if you can, or call a plumber to get the source of the water fixed. Then call SERVPRO® to start the water restoration process. You might also want to consider calling your insurance company.

The water restoration process includes extracting visible water from your home by using industrial-sized water extraction equipment. (Moving furniture out of the way is often part of this process.) Once the extraction process is completed, the drying process starts. SERVPRO® technicians will also place air movers (very powerful fans) and dehumidifiers in your home to expedite the drying process. This equipment is necessary to dry out the remaining moisture in your home, which can be absorbed into various structural materials such as baseboards, cabinets, drywall and all types of flooring. Depending on the type of water, the amount of water and the length of time the water sat in these structural materials, some of these materials might have to be torn out to help ensure proper drying of your home. To enhance the drying process, our technicians might also place plastic barriers over some openings.

During the water restoration process, it is our goal to make sure that the process of getting your home back in order goes as smoothly as possible. However, when water damage occurs, having large, noisy equipment running 24/7 for several days, plus the potential for plastic barriers in your home and having some materials torn out can make it difficult to stay in your home. Although each situation is unique, our goal is to have the home dry and all equipment removed within 3 days. While many customers choose to remain in their home throughout the water restoration process, you can check with your insurance company to see if you have coverage for temporary living arrangements.

Call SERVPRO® of McKinney at 469-714-4955 for your water restoration needs.  We also offer reconstruction services!
