Removing Odors After Smoke or Fire Damage
Cleaning your home or business after smoke or fire damage should include removing the lingering odor. Each cleanup situation is unique, so we will inspect the property to determine the best method for removal. Three methods that we use for odor removal are (1) ozone generators, (2) hydroxyl generators, and (3) deodorants.
Ozone Generator - Ozone is a gas that is both a natural and a man-made product. An ozone generator produces man-made ozone by energizing oxygen molecules, which causes a chemical reaction to occur resulting in ozone. The ozone then exits the generator where it can oxidize smoke, odors and other harmful contaminants, which helps to remove the odor. It’s important to know that while an ozone generator is in operation inside of a building, NO occupancy is allowed.
Hydroxyl Generator - Through a chemical reaction, hydroxyl generators create hydroxyl molecules that safely convert contaminants into harmless carbon dioxide and water. Hydroxyl generators can safely be used while a building is occupied.
Deodorants- Deodorants are pairing agents that combine with the lingering odor to create new odorless compounds. Use of deodorants is through the forms of liquids, gels, and solids.
